Born in Darlington 1987, now lives in Newcastle and currently a final year student in Fine Art at Northumbria University.
The prints in the exhibition are representative of my current work, which is concerned with the representation of death, tragedy, memory and the macabre. Deliberately primitive in their approach, they explore the idea of spontaneity and accident, and acknowledge the important contribution of mistakes in the print process, which often lead to unexpected and unpredictable outcomes. This flawed quality resonates with the difficult content of the drawings and adds to their sense of awkwardness and discomfort.
Influences on my work include Philip Guston, Joel-Peter Witkin, Sally Mann, Philip Larkin and Polly Morgan.
