Penny Grennan

Biography:

2010 - MA Fine Art. Northumbria University

2009 - BA Fine Art - First Class Hons. Northumbria University

Penny has exhibited in London, Japan, Newcastle and Northumberland. She is currently the artist curator at Hexham Hospital and Artist in Residence for the Society of Antiquarians. She is also an Arts’ project organiser and is a director of Hadrian Arts Trust.

Statement:

Penny Grennan is a painter and photographer who is primarily interested in the nature of our emotional relationships with objects. This show includes images of objects taken in New Orleans, made all the more potent by recent events, as well as paintings of her own souvenir collection.


Amy Jones

Biography:

Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne; a textile artist who specialises in fabric installations and artwear , with a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Northumbria University.

Statement:

Originating around the time of The Arts and Crafts Movement, Artwear denotes a one-off wearable item with a conceptual basis expressed through the colour, shape or medium of the piece. Wearable Art contains elements of art, craft and fashion, but it does not completely sit within one category.

My collection is an antithesis to high street fashion and sees the wearer as both canvas and artist, expressing a mood or conviction in a society of increasing uniformity and conformity.


Events: Throughout the show there will be 2 events happening under the title:

The Art is in the Making -

1. Donate a piece of material which Amy will make into an art work which will be completed by the end of the show

2. Bring along an object of desire and have your photgraph taken with it. It will then be emailed to you
