The Moving Gallery invites you to RUN a Mixed Media Installation by newcastle based artist Ruth Medcalf.

Currently undertaking a year long Artist Placement at Allenheads Contemporary Art, Northumberland.
Medcalf's work explores notions of audio and visual language, still and moving image and the idea of the soundtrack in the everyday. Through the use of film, sound, photography, typography and installation, the works often investigate the performative elements of these relationships. This current installation follows an on-going series of work documenting the use of music as a social commentary, the run-tape is a precise form of composition, selected by an individual solely to psyche themselves and sustain body rhythms when running. It is a personal mantra, consisting in some cases of just one track repeated indefinitely through to complete scores, all chosen to accompany movement.
